Fife House was there for me as a single mother living with HIV struggling to find affordable housing.
They helped me find a home, and hope.
That's why I wanted to work for Fife House and help people who are going through the same things as I was.
At Fife House we also help in food security, addiction, and mental health.
I'm Amutha and I love my job. It allows me to help so many others.

My name is Shirley Chua-Tan.
I belong to a small Chinese community in Whitehorse, Yukon.
Most Asian people in Yukon are used to stocking up when they travel back home.
But with the travel restrictions during the pandemic, a lot of people missed that connection.
That is when we decided to open Yukon Asian Market.
This store is a labor of love.
We did it because we wanted to do something for the community.
Community means family.
Community means teamwork.
Community means everything that is on the table that meant to be shared.
If i have the means of bringing everybody together, it’s a great feeling.
So, I was at a splash pad with my son, and I wondered to myself, “do they make sunscreen for Black skin?” and it was at that time, I knew I needed to create a space where I could talk to other moms who look like me about things that are unique to Black motherhood: topics like how to navigate the education system, how to deal with when our children are called racial slurs and things like haircare and skincare.
Hi, my name is Tanya Hayles, and I am the founder of Black Moms Connection. Financial literacy is a hot topic in our community: from how to save more money, how to make more money, and how to plan for our children’s future. As the community grew from 4,000 to 20,000 around the world, we knew we had to take the conversation off-line. By providing workshops; financial literacy summits taught by Black professionals to make sure that that information is culturally relevant, members like Odessa can use that information to grow and thrive.
Before attending the Financial Literacy Summit, I didn’t have very strong financial literacy skills. But hearing from Black leaders and entrepreneurs about the importance of financial literacy, and about getting intentional about my money has made a huge impact on my life. I started saving and investing my money and created my own business, Synergy Link. Now, I also host my own workshops to pay it forward and make this knowledge more easily accessible to marginalized families. Most importantly, now I’m able to pass these financial literacy skills down to my own children.
Now an online global village of over 20,000
Black Moms Connection is positively impacting Black women, their families, and their communities.
And we’re proud to support Black Moms Connection through the TD Ready Commitment.

is the first to
be fully staffed by
indigenous peoples.
It's a source of pride.
